Bastian Schwensteiger led a German assault that left the portugals high and dry in the quarterfinals of Euro 2008. The Germans went up 2-0 in the spacxe of four minutes. Bastian made an amazing run in the 22 minute to get on the end of a great cross by Lukas Podolski. Podolski himself did really well to get clear of the Portugese defense on the left hand side. four minutes later a harmless freekick from Bastians foot found the unmarked Klose in the area and he duly put it in for his first goal in this tournament. Portugal however refused to go down easily and Nuno Gomes scored from a brilliant counter attack.

The second half saw a carbon copy of the second goal with Ballack this time on the end of Bastian's freekick to make it 3-1. Nani came on as a substitute and he made real contributions on the pitch. he made a dazzling run to beat two german defenders and crossed to ball in for another substitute to score a goal to amke it 3-2. but it was too little too late as the Germans held on for a great victory.

I happened to watch this film called Santhosh Subramanian today. The film stars Jeyam Ravi and Genelia D'souza. It has Prakash Raj playing a pivotal role. It was a pretty decent family entertainer. My friend found Genelia to be astundingly cute, while I thought it was over dramatized at some points. Like it was like those are things that people actually don't do in real life. Anyway the movie was worth a one time watch and was worth the money I spent on it. The songs are good and so was the technique of movie making taken.

One which always makes me laugh is from a test in 1997 between West Indies and India. Anil kummble was batting and the ball hit him in the 'unmentionables' as Ravi Shastri always puts it.

Kumble just went flat on the pitch and lay there on his back for about 5 minutes. Thats the most memorable such incident I have seen of the millions which keep happening.

Mark Richardson v India last year when he made that century, he kept trying to sweep the ball, but was suffering with cramps and he keep going down with a cry of:"Aaaarrrrrggghhhhhhh" like he had been shot by a hidden sniper.

I wonder if he's been able to live that down in the South African dressing room?

Another one was when Mike Hussey broke his bat for WA in a Mercantile Mutal match (before it became the ING Cup) against Victoria at the MCG. Hussey played pretty well and got a ton, and IIRC WA won, but the broken bat was the funny part of it.
